COVID 19 & THE BISHOP

June The Bishop has said that Masses may resume as usual.  If folks are vaccinated, they do not need to wear their masks.  If persons wish to continue wearing the mask they may do so.  His dispensation from attending Sunday mass will end June 30. All parishioners are obliged to attend Sunday Mass beginning July 1 unless sick.

May Happy happy  The covid19 protocols will be changing from the CDC so be informed as to when and where to get a vaccine or test, and when and where to wear a mask or not.  The bishop will let us know when the social distancing and mask wearing in churches will change.  Please get your vaccinations as soon as you can so we can be together safely.  Everyone can now be immunized.

April  Happy Easter

If you contract Covid19 and need hospital care, ask them for "monoclonal therapy."  If they don't have a supply, go online to combatcovid.hhs.gov/ This is the medication that the former president received.  The news carried this story.

February  Ash Wednesday (2/17/21)  This is not a Holy Day of Obligation.  But we will have Masses indoors on this Wednesday, February 17th.   Ashes will be blessed and sprinkled over the heads of those leaving the church.  Remember that Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, the season of repentance and forgiveness.  9:00am  English Mass, 5:00pm & 7:00pm Spanish Mass, 3:00pm Afternoon Scripture Service with sprinkled ashes.

January  Celebration of the Eucharist at Mass is indoors by special permission of the Bishop, with Holy Communion at the end of Mass at the doors as you leave.  If you are not attending Mass, you will be able to receive Holy Communion at the doors after all masses.  Father will hear confessions after the masses in the west parking lot.  The schedule of masses remains the same.  The office is closed to the public, however, you can call for appointments or information or other business.  Be safe, wear masks, wash hands, keep distance and get your vacination.

October  Phase 2 is extended.  Beginning Saturday October 17, afternoon mass at 4:00pm will be celebrated as the regular schedure will be started.  Holy Communion will be given at the regular time during mass instead of at the end.  Confessions will be Saturdays at 3:00pm-4:00pm.  Adoration of the Holy Sacrament will start Friday, October 23 at 9:30am.

September The corona virus is out and about in Tucson.  Please wear a mask and keep your distance.  Fr. Gonzalo will return to the Sunday Mass Schedule this coming Sunday, September 27th for the masses at 8:00am and 10:00am in English and 12:00 noon in Spanish.  The Mass in Spanish on Friday evening will continue at 7:00pm.

August  Cases are going down so we can again move to inside the church for celebrations of Mass.  New for this period will be one mass in English at 9:00am and one mass in Spanish at 11:00am on Sundays.  The mass in Spanish on Friday will continue at 7:00pm.  Confessions will be held outside the west door after the masses.

July Cases of COVID 19 in Arizona are rising.   All services in the churches are canceled in the diocese.  Perhaps for the month of July.  Religious classes may or may not begin in the fall.  The Catholic hospitals are asking that all parish communities help them by wearing masks, keeping distance, washing hands and staying home when possible.  Sacred Heart Parish Tucson will celebrate Mass outside on Sunday morning and Friday evening.
